Listening with understanding and empathy

This afternoon Kamila and Musa came down to the under two classroom with us. Kamila initiated a game involving the popup tent which you eagerly joined in, adding to the dramatic play direction. Kamila was very direct with her ideas that only to people could fit inside the ship and all the balls were popcorn and needed to be flung out of the ship/tent. You could see Musa had finished eating and wanted to be part of your game. You suggested things between both Kamila and Musa until it was decided Musa was a pirate and was collecting the popcorn to provide the girls with.

Review of learning
Nusayba you are a very caring friend, listening with understanding and empathy to both of your friends needs and wants, ensuring they were both happy and able to play with you. Taking responsibility for your friends happiness is very kind.

Where to next?
You are a caring friend and older sister Nusayba, being aware of etiquette and manners of your culture and New Zealand. To continue building on your naturally sensitive disposition we will encourage your dramatic play to explore more sophisticated moral issues, social strategies and more advanced etiquette to challenge you such as tea parties, burglar/cop/victim/family.
