Big Sister!

Congratulations Nusayba and whaanau/family on the extension of your family with the birth of a son! I am so happy for you and wish you all good health! We look forward to seeing both T. Hafisha as well as your new baby.
We were all very proud of Nusayba when asked how her new baby brother is or mother doing she responds "Alhamdo lillah"

Nusayba it sounds like you are enjoying being a big sister, proudly informing your friends of this when asked to play different roles during dramatic play. Your best friend Kamila enjoys sharing this special role with you as she also is a big sister and cannot wait to one day met your baby brother and often enjoys showing you how she helps her baby brother in the afternoons when we join the under two classrooms. You are also delighted to see Granddad you is helping out at the moment when he comes to collect you - you always greet him with the biggest smile and run to him for a cuddle.

What learning is happening here?
A change in family dynamics is often a big transition for children and can be unsettling as they adjust to new roles within the family. Therefore it is very positive to see Nusayba viewing herself as a big sister with pride thanks to her mother's preparing during the pregnancy period. Nusayba is enjoying having some stability and familiarity in her life through regular routines at school and having the same role within the classroom context. At the moment Nusayba is enjoying having extended family members around to spend time with and is very proud of her Grandfather.

What to next?
We will carefully observe Nusayba's behavior as she continues to settle and adapt to having a new born in the home, especially after extended family leave. We will continue offering Nusayba many ways to express herself and ideas such as art and dramatic play.

Get Well Soon Nusayba!

Oh no Nusayba! I was very sad to see you feeling so unwell the other Friday, and now your mother tells me you have chicken pox. I hope you are feeling better soon and we will see you when you are better. Your friends are already missing you and will be happy to see you when you are able to return.
